CLAUDIA’S ITALY: SHE ASKS FOR 60 CENTS FOR WATER, THEY LIVE IN HOTELS PAID BY US

Her name is Claudia. One of those women who built this country. A lifetime of work, of sacrifices, of early mornings and sleepless nights to save something. Today what does this Italy give her back? It forces her to ask for 60 cents. 60 cents to buy a bottle of water. Not for a luxury, not for a whim. For water. And no one cares about her. No one asks how she is, no one reaches out. She stays there, with her dignity, asking for what for many is nothing. And this is the greatest shame. Because while Claudia counts her cents, while our elderly have to choose between buying medicine or food, while Italian families struggle to make it to the end of the month, there is another Italy. The one of the immigrants who are welcomed and put up in hotels. Real hotels, with the room, breakfast, services. Paid by us, with our taxes. And it doesn’t end there. Money and allowances. Residence permits, pocket money, free healthcare, phone, clothing. Everything paid for. For them there is always a ready answer, there is always a special fund, there is always the association that accompanies and protects them. For Claudia, no. For Claudia there is only the line, the wait, the bureaucracy that sends her from one office to another. For Claudia there is only the silence of the institutions. No politician will show you this. No news program will show you Claudia asking for 60 cents. They talk to you about welcome, integration, rights. But where are the rights of those who worked a whole life for this nation? We at RadioGenoa and RGX Live show it to you because we truly care about these things. We feel them on our own skin. Because when you see a lady like Claudia forced to ask for a bottle of water, you understand this is no longer welcome. This is a replacement. This is an upside-down Italy. An Italy where those who gave everything are left alone, and those who arrive from outside get everything without lifting a finger. We are not okay with this. And as long as there is a voice like ours, Claudia and thousands of Italians like her will not be invisible.
