In 2025, only 355,772 babies were born in Italy. -3.8% vs 2024. The lowest number since the Unification of Italy in 1861. Since 2008, we have lost 38.3% of births: from 576,659 to 355,772. 220,000 fewer babies every year. Fertility rate at 1.14 children per woman. Absolute historic low. Italian women at 1.07. The scary numbers:
- Italian parents: 275,330 (-42.6% since 2008)
- Foreign parents: 49,002 – collapsing too, from 2.53 to 1.74 children
- Mixed couples: only growing data +4.2%.
- Average age at first child: 32.7 years.
